We all are surrounding with countless distractions. Everything demands our attention and we find ourselves all over the place. Being able to sit down and produce a good amount of work is harder than ever. Our shrinked attention spans make us unable to focus on important tasks for long. 

The inability to focus is one of the greatest roadblocks in being productive and achieving our goals . Constant notifications on our phones and the need to keep up with social circle keeps us distracted. We are interrupted by unneccessary things and people can easily intrude into our bubble at work. So, our precious time and energy is never channelled into whats really important. 

As work keeps piling up, we find ourselves stressed which consequently lowers our productivity.
Here are a few ways you can learn to keep your focus and get things done. 

Define your goals on a daily basis. 
Some people say we like to do as we please. Thats the kind of mindset which keeps you from using your full potential. You need to define your goals clearly in order to achieve them. Your brain needs to know what is on schedule so it can prepare you for that. Planning things before hand saves a lot of time and you dont have to struggle with motivation everyday. 

Delay Gratification
This may seem hard for people who are used to "living in the moment". They indulge in their urges as they arise, whether it is to watch tv while procrastinating work or be at the parties all the time. They live their present in their comfort zone and then fear the future. What such people forget is that our today decides our future. So, Instead of letting yourself succumb to instant gratification, do whats necessary not what is desrirable and convenient. 

Divide Bigger tasks into smaller chunks.
When you see how high the peak of the mountain is, you may never start climbing. Every great journey has to be made by one milestone at a time. Just keep your eyes on the next lap that is in front of you, instead of seeing how far the finishing line is. 
Dividing your work in smaller bits help you deal with them better, whithout being stressed. When you get done with little tasks, you will feel a sense of achievement and that will build your momentum to reach the ultimate goal.

Be the judge of yourself. 
Every person is different in their strengths and weakness. What works for someone else may not work for you. A certain person may be a night owl and works better at night. Another person may be able to deliver best in the early hours of the morning. Some people thrive while working with others. Others are most productive when they are on their own. You have to see what works for you and stick to that. Analyze at what time or in what circumstances is your energy high, where and how can you concentrate better. It will make you productive and eliminate stress. Leave your menial tasks for the time when your energy is low. Priotize important things in your best time. 

Eliminate distractions. 
Put your phone away when you start working at something. Mute all notifications and make sure nothing distracts you. Tell your friends and family to not interrupt you with anything.Without all those distractions you can have the concentration you need to work effectively. It will declutter your mind and your focus will let you complete your work effortlessly.
